Field Experiences

54 University Education Students between October 22-23!

From October 22 to November 2, 2013 we will be hosting two cohorts of 14 Education Students from the University of Calgary. The program is titled "Life in Schools" and will give the students a week of observation, participation and reflections at two public schools in Calgary.

The purpose of the course is to have the students inquire into and document the lives and cultures of students, teachers and schools. At the end of the week the students will prepare a digital/visual presentation of what they experienced.

We were also host to a cohort of 9 students from the University of Calgary Bridges program. These are experienced teachers from other countries who are working with the University to obtain Alberta Teaching certification.

On October 23 the second year education students from the University of Calgary had their second visit and opportunity to teach at our school. The 28 physical education specialist students took turns delivering their prepared lessons while their peers observed and prepared feedback.

Our Mount Royal University student teachers continue to work toward fulfilling their volunteer hours in our school with their mentor teachers and are becoming part of the community.

We are looking forward to hosting the third term student teachers from the University of Calgary beginning on November 12 and hope to have a large group for the Winter Semesters as well.

Thank you to the CSS teachers who have been so accommodating and inviting to our guests, and thank you to the CSS students for being so welcoming and open in sharing your work when we come to your class.
